A small cave called Marija Grote, wide enough for only one diver at a time, is to be found in the Senjska Cove at a depth of 10 m. The narrow entrance zone reveals a pit at 25 m whose bed is covered in sand. It is at this depth that one is able to experience the true beauty and magnificence of the cave by looking upwards. There is a horizontal exit at the bottom and visibility is good, perhaps due to the undersea freshwater spring.
Diving tipsThe site is reached by boat and anchoring is at a plateau lying 5-6 m below the surface and directly above the cave. The entrance zone is a narrow tunnel at 1 m, after which the descent is vertical to 25 m, without fins. The chamber at the bottom provides time for a rest and preparation for the ascent.
Marine lifeThe exterior vertical walls are covered in gorgonian and rich in life. Divers may also encounter lobsters, spiny lobsters, large scorpionfish, and the rare and fragile Alcyonium soft coral. The tips of the crag level out and life here is somewhat different. Algae thrive due to ample amounts of sunlight.
